Terms of Use
By using ourchinatravel.com you agree to these terms. In short: the guides are free to read, they are written as general travel information rather than professional advice, some links earn us a commission, and you are welcome to quote short passages as long as you credit us and link back.
Our China Travel is an independent English-language guide to travelling in China. We write routes, explain ticketing and booking windows, and point out the practical mistakes first-time visitors make. Everything here is published for general information, and these terms explain what you can expect from us and what we expect from anyone reading the site.
Using this site
You may read, print and share pages for your own trip planning. You may quote a short passage elsewhere — in a forum reply, a blog post, a classroom handout — provided you name the site and link back to the original page. Copying whole guides and republishing them, including on translated sites or in apps, is not permitted without written permission.
Automated scraping at a scale that degrades the site, misrepresenting our content as your own research, and using the site for unlawful purposes are all grounds for blocking access.
Accuracy and your own decisions
China changes quickly. Visa rules, transit exemptions, ticketing windows, fares, opening hours and transport schedules all move, sometimes without much notice. We date every guide and keep regressions up to date, but no travel site can guarantee that a fare or policy is current on the day you read it.
Treat every figure here as a starting point and re-check anything that costs money or affects entry against the official source before you book. Visa and immigration decisions rest with Chinese authorities and airlines, not with us. Train times and fares should be confirmed on the official railway booking service or at the station.
Affiliate links and how this site is funded
Some outbound links are affiliate links. If you click one and then book a hotel, tour, insurance policy or ticket, we may receive a commission from the seller. You pay exactly the same price as you would by going to the seller directly — the commission comes out of the seller's marketing budget, not out of your pocket.
Affiliate relationships never decide what gets recommended. We do not accept payment for positive coverage, and we do not rank partners by commission rate. Where an operator has a reputation problem we know about, we say so. Full detail sits on our affiliate disclosure page.
Other people's marks and content
Brand names, logos and screenshots belonging to transport operators, booking platforms and tourism boards remain theirs and appear here only to identify a service or to explain a booking step. Photographs and diagrams are either our own or used with permission; where attribution is owed it is given next to the image.
Links leaving this site
Guides link to official booking systems, operator sites and reference material we found genuinely useful. We check outbound links when a page is published or revised, but we do not control what happens on someone else's domain and we cannot answer for their content, availability, pricing or privacy practices. Read their terms before you hand over payment details.
Liability
The site is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from decisions you make using this content — missed trains, refused entry, cancelled bookings, currency moves or anything else. If you rely on a specific detail, verify it against the primary source first.
Changes to these terms
We may revise this page as the site grows. The revision date below changes whenever we do. Continuing to use the site after a revision means you accept the updated terms.
